Our Review of the phil&teds twin buggy

Best Stroller for Tall Kids

I did a ton of research before buying this stroller for my two kids. The Phil & Ted was the only stroller that my very tall 4 year old could sit in without her head touching the canopy. She will be 5 in May and still has room to grow!

Good but not quite

I bought this stroller after many months of researching the 4 in its class: Baby Jogger, Mountain Buggy, Valco. At the time the reviews here were not heavily weighted in favor of any of them, and I got a good price for the P&T, so that was it.
The good: Narrower than MBUD, BJ. Big wheels, easy to steer & turn, great for bumps, very comfy, flat recline.
The not so good: I had the same canopy issue with the rod falling out. I called P&T and they sent a replacement. The recline is super clumsy. The footrest is plastic-coated fabric but when my daughter climbed in it unsnapped from the frame. She weighs 27 lb. Also, the seat back is completely open when reclined (although they do include some sort of transparent plastic backing which you have to velcro on & off each time). Also, there are no shocks on this, which is not hugely important but does make a difference. Also, it seemd a little flimsy, because of the seats' slouchy structure.
The same week, my friend got a Baby Jogger, and I compared the two. The baby Jogger has a much more solid feel to it, stronger and more durable. The wheels turn more easily. The recline is easier. The footplate is more durable, the fold is obviously incredible, the awnings are more flexible, the storage is better, etc. I sold my P&T on craigslist and bought a Baby Jogger.
My problem was trying to discern the differences from a slew of positive reviews. What I narrowed it down to was: Mountain Buggy has a utilitarian look, and can take a carrycot. Valco comes with accessories, and an option for a toddler seat, but is not as durable as MB or BJ. Baby Jogger has a very sporty look (the only complaint I hear about it besides for general weight, size when folded,etc). PHil & Ted as far as I can now tell has no especial distinguishing characteristics but for the same price as a BJ has a different look, however less "amenities" and durability.
I hope this review helps. When I was trying to figure it out, all reviews were 4 stars and up for all of these strollers.

Annoying canopy!

I am so close to tossing this thing in the trash!
I bought the E3 Twin a few months ago so I have DOUBLE the trouble with the canopy. For those of you who are shopping around- be warned! I have had a few doubles so far (one for shopping, one for jogging, ETC). I wanted just one so decided on the phil and teds e3 twin. My boys love the side by side and it really is very maneuverable. Turns on a dime and I've had NO problem with doorways thusfar. Now for the problem...The canopy comes completely off- it's held on by snap-style buttons and a metal "rod" that slips into a slot. It slips easily into the slot but just as easily comes out (anytime it's NOT fully extended it'll come out) which leaves this rod dangling and sticking out! It has to be fully extended and snapped to work properly (but little hands can and will unsnap and move it!).
Also, like mentioned before it is a heavy stroller and is still pretty big folded down- you'll need plenty of space. Very aggravating for a $600 stroller!!!

We have been carrying this jogger for quite some time now, and this problem you are having with the canopy is a first. From what you are describing the canopy doing, doesn't seem right. I am thinking that you should call Regal Lager (Phil & Ted's US distributor) as soon as you can, and address this issue to them. The jogger is still under warranty, so give them a call at 800 593 5522.

Not what I had hoped given the price.

My kids (4 yrs and 11 mos) are comfortable in the stroller, and it is very easy to push as well as maneuver through doorways. However, it is a bit heavy for loading/unloading in the car.
I have had the problem another user mentioned with the fabric starting to tear on the underside of the footrest where the wheels rub. It seems that any weight on that footrest will eliminate any clearance between the footrest material and the wheels. The tear has not gone through as of yet, but this shouldn't be happening.
I have also had trouble with the snaps that attach the sunshade to the frame pulling out of the frame (actually from part of the handlebar). This has happened twice, but each time I was able to receive a new part from Phil&Ted rather quickly. I do wish the sunshade was either larger or fully adjustable so that the kids were better shielded from the sun here in TX! Phil&Ted's does sell a separate sunshade, but that is another $80 or so I believe. One other thing about sun coverage - when you recline the seats, there is no coverage from the back of the stroller.
Again, I do like the stroller, I just had expected fewer problems since it was so expensive.

The stroller pushes nicely. However, it is too big and heavy to fold and take out of the car or travel with. Also, the fabric underneath the seat of where my older child (2 yrs old) sits, is tearing from the front tire rubbing on it. I was recently looking at a Bob double jogging stroller and wishing I had bought that one instead.

Phil and Teds Twin GREAT Stroller!

Pretty heavy to lug in and out of an SUV!!! The bin underneath is not as big as I hoped for but am happy with overall performance. It rides and turns awesome. The kids look way comfy and it actually fits around malls and other places we visit. My daughter is almost three and there is plenty of room to grow. A little pricey but a good long term investment.!

Great double stroller

This is a great stroller. It is easy to maneuver with the swivel wheels. My children (2 year old and 6 month old) love riding side by side. It is great to lay completely flat when the baby is sleeping. It is easy to get through standard doorways. You don't have to have both doors open, which is great when you are alone with the children. This stroller is extremely well made. Most strollers now have foam wheels, which wear very quickly if you do any type of walking or jogging on asphalt. This one has rubber wheels. It has a sturdy all metal frame, which unfortunately also makes it a little heavy and cumbersome. I have an SUV, and it is quite heavy to lift into the back. It also takes up a lot of space. The wheels are easy to remove, which helps a little. Overall, I am very happy with the stroller. I debated between this one and the single Phil and Teds with the doubles kit, but my husband was very skeptical about having one of our children in the rear seat. He didn't think they would like it because of the restricted view. I certainly didn't want it to be a fight everytime we used the stroller, so we went with this style and both children seem to love it!
